CLASS C VS. SUPER C RVS

Class C RVs vs. Super C RVs: A Comprehensive Comparison

What is the difference between a Class C and a Super C RV? Long story short, size. The first thing you’ll notice when stepping inside a Class C vs. a Super C RV is the difference in size. Super C RVs like the Explorer, Classic, and XL are longer and more spacious than Class Cs. That’s not the whole story though. Explore the characteristics that make these two RV classes distinct, as well as the attributes they share.

What Do Class Cs and Super Cs Have in Common?

Super C RVs are the big brothers of Class C motorhomes. Though they pack more power and size than your standard Class C, they share the maneuverability that sets Class Cs apart. With engines in front of the cockpit, they boast better safety and more affordable service and repair in relation to their Class A counterparts. Last, but certainly not least, both Class Cs and Super Cs include that coveted cab-over bunk area, providing extra sleeping space or storage.

What sets Class Cs and Super Cs apart?

Chassis

Super Cs are built on robust commercial truck chassis, making them very durable and performance-oriented. In comparison, Class C models typically use the Ford E-450 chassis.

Because of their size, Super Cs are often compared to Class As. However, the Super C offers a more natural driving experience, similar to a luxury pickup feel. With a wider wheelbase than Class Cs, incredible stopping power and full air ride rear suspension, Super Cs provide enhanced stability, safety and comfort.

Towing Capacity

So, what is the biggest advantage of a Super C motorhome? Many enthusiasts will tell you it’s the towing capacity. While Class Cs typically offer a towing capacity of 3,000 to 8,000 lbs, Super Cs can haul up to an impressive 30,000 lbs. Powerful diesel engines make them capable of towing large boats, SUVs, or race car trailers. Super Cs can handle it all.

Size

Need some space? Super Cs are designed on larger frames, allowing for bigger slides that give you ample room to spread out. They accommodate 5 to 10 people comfortably, featuring luxurious amenities like sizable showers, residential-size refrigerators, and multiple TVs.

Is a Super C Worth It?

If you need more space for your travel companions, or towing capacity for your travel accessories, or maybe you crave the luxury of a Class A but want easier drivability – a Super C could be exactly what you want. Super Cs provide a unique blend of comfort, space, and towing power, making them ideal for families, adventure seekers, and those who want to travel in style.
